Fiber Optic Testing & Certification Services in Dubai, UAE
Fluke DSX CableAnalyzer, OTDR trace analysis, and OLS optical power testing for Single Mode & Multi Mode fiber. Full TIA-568 & IEC compliant certification reports — trusted by enterprises, data centers, and ELV contractors across Dubai and the UAE. 12+ years of Netsole IT expertise.
Installing fiber optic cabling is only half the job — certification and testing is what guarantees performance, compliance, and long-term reliability. Netsole IT provides comprehensive fiber optic testing services in Dubai using industry-standard equipment: Fluke DSX CableAnalyzer for end-to-end certification, OTDR for fault detection and reflectometry trace analysis, and OLS (Optical Light Source) paired with a power meter for accurate insertion loss measurement. Every job ends with a formal certification report accepted by consultants, main contractors, and end clients across the UAE.
Compliance-Ready Reports
Full bidirectional test reports in PDF format, accepted by UAE consultants, DEWA, Free Zone authorities, and international standards bodies for project sign-off.
Fault Detection & Pinpointing
OTDR trace analysis identifies exact fault locations — breaks, bends, bad splices, connector defects — down to the meter, minimizing downtime and rework cost.
Accurate Loss Measurement
OLS + power meter testing delivers precise end-to-end insertion loss and return loss values for both Single Mode and Multi Mode fiber runs.
Our Three-Method Fiber Testing Approach
Fluke DSX CableAnalyzer
The Fluke DSX series is the gold standard for structured cabling certification. For fiber, it delivers full Tier 2 testing — measuring insertion loss, return loss, and length for every link with autotest pass/fail results against TIA-568 and ISO/IEC limits. Reports are generated directly from the device and accepted worldwide.
-
Autotest Pass/FAIL per TIA-568-C.3 & ISO/IEC 11801
-
Measures insertion loss & return loss on every fiber pair
-
Supports OM1, OM2, OM3, OM4, OM5 & OS1/OS2
-
Digital PDF certification reports for each cable run
-
Used for handover to consultants & main contractors
1
OTDR Testing
An Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) sends light pulses into the fiber and measures reflections to generate a trace — a distance-vs-loss graph of the entire link. It pinpoints splices, connectors, bends, breaks, and any anomalies with meter-level precision. Essential for long-run backbone links and post-splicing verification.
-
Locates faults, bad splices, and bends to the exact meter
-
Bidirectional testing for accurate average splice loss
-
Single Mode (1310/1550nm) & Multi Mode (850/1300nm)
-
Trace files (.sor) archived and included in handover pack
-
Identifies reflective events vs. non-reflective losses
2
OLS – Optical Light Source
An OLS paired with an Optical Power Meter (OPM) performs simple, fast, and highly accurate end-to-end insertion loss (Tier 1) testing. A stable light is injected at one end, and the received power is measured at the other. It's the fastest way to verify total link loss against the power budget for any fiber run ideal for quick acceptance tests and troubleshooting.
-
Tier 1 insertion loss testing per TIA-526-14B
-
Wavelengths: 850nm, 1300nm, 1310nm, 1550nm
-
Measures total end-to-end optical loss in dB
-
Fast verification for patch cords, connectors, and links
-
Used alongside OTDR for complete fiber characterization

Our 8-Step Fiber Testing & Certification Process
Pre-Test Inspection
Visual inspection of connectors, patch panels, and splice enclosures before electrical testing begins.
1
Reference Cable Calibration
All test equipment calibrated using known reference cables to eliminate launch cable loss errors.
2
OLS Insertion Loss Test (Tier 1)
End-to-end power loss measured at all required wavelengths for every fiber run.
3
OTDR Trace Analysis
Bidirectional OTDR sweep to locate splices, connectors, bends, and faults with precise distance data.
4
5
Fluke DSX Autotest (Tier 2)
Full Tier 2 certification run — insertion loss, return loss, length — with autotest PASS/FAIL.
6
Fault Remediation (if required)
Any failed links are immediately investigated and remediated — re-spliced, re-terminated, or repaired on-site.
Report Generation & Review
Formal certification reports generated per cable run, reviewed against project specifications.
7
8
Handover Pack & Sign-Off
Complete handover pack including PDF reports, OTDR trace files (.sor), as-built drawings, and labeling documentation.

Frequently Asked Questions – Fiber Testing & Certification
What is the difference between Tier 1 and Tier 2 fiber testing?
Tier 1 (OLS + Power Meter) measures end-to-end insertion loss only — fast and suitable for basic acceptance. Tier 2 (OTDR + Fluke) provides a complete characterization including fault location, return loss, and full link analysis. Most projects in Dubai now require Tier 2 for formal handover.
Do you provide OTDR trace files along with PDF reports?
Yes. We provide both PDF certification reports (Fluke) and raw OTDR trace files (.sor format) that can be opened in LinkWare or equivalent software for independent verification.
Can you do standalone third-party fiber testing on cabling installed by others?
Absolutely. We regularly provide independent third-party certification for fiber installed by other contractors — a common requirement for project handover and defect liability periods.
Which standards do your reports comply with?
TIA-568-C.3, ISO/IEC 11801, IEC 61280-4-2, TIA-526-14B, and EN 50173 — all aligned with UAE regulatory and consultant requirements.
How long does fiber testing take per run?
Fluke autotest takes approximately 1–2 minutes per fiber. OTDR bidirectional sweep adds another 5–10 minutes. For large projects, we deploy multiple test sets simultaneously to minimize project timeline impact.
